What to Do in NYC This Week
Here’s a breakdown of what’s going on in the Big Apple this week so you can choose your favorite events and activities.
Bank of America Winter Village’s FrostFest
Formerly known as Winter Carnival, FrostFest is exactly what the name implies. Located in Bryant Park, this 10-day festival features seasonal food and drink, and igloos, bumper cars on ice, and more. On the last night (February 3) there is a FrostFest performance gala to benefit Rivertown Dance Academy of Tarrytown.
This event will be at The Lodge at Hudson Harbor at 2 Harbor Way. A silent auction, food, open bar, and performances of notable New York City dance companies await.
NYC Restaurant Week
From January 21 until February 8, New York City hosts NYC Restaurant Week. This special event features a celebration of an iconic New York City pastime — food. There are hundreds of restaurants participating. Food ranges from seafood and burgers to ethnic cuisine, and there are special prix-fixe menus. Get a two-course lunch for $26 or a three-course dinner for $42.
Started almost three decades ago, the NYC Restaurant Week experience embodies the best of New York City. It doesn’t matter if you’re a foodie or just want to experience mouthwatering meals at a lower price, this is a must-do experience.
If you love adult beverages and winter comfort food from some of New York City’s best chefs, then the Winter Warmer event is for you. On February 2nd at the Brooklyn Expo Center, the Winter Warmer features music, games, and plenty to drink. Enjoy comfort food made for cozy nights out of the cold. Think truffle mac ‘n’ cheese or chili. As far as adult beverages, there are seasonal winter ales and plenty of wine.
General admission gets you craft beer, spirits, and wine tasting, as well as a commemorative glass, a photo booth, games galore, and food available to buy. For the VIP admission, you get all that and more. You are admitted in early, get access to an exclusive lounge, enjoy drinks and treats not offered otherwise, and make your own s’mores. This is the perfect experience to enjoy a winter wonderland while cozying up with someone you love.
NYC Broadway Week
You simply cannot go to NYC without taking in a Broadway show. Running from January 21 to February 10, NYC Broadway Week is where you can get two-for-one tickets on select Broadway shows. And don’t think that these are shows you’ve never heard of either. Some examples are Chicago, The Book of Mormon, Kinky Boots, The Lion King, and The Phantom of the Opera.
But make sure to book as early as possible because with this event, tickets go fast and you don’t want to miss out on your favorite. Also, some require a two-ticket minimum purchase but since you’re getting one free, it’s a steal and a deal you can’t beat.
