Best Shopping Day in Williamsburg

Williamsburg has quickly become one of the most popular tourist destinations in all of New York City. People flock here from all over the world to check out the sights, do some celeb spotting, sample some of the awesome foods and hit up the nightlife scene. But if you’re looking for a fantastic day of shopping, Williamsburg won’t let you down. Here is a guide to the best shopping areas in Brooklyn’s trendiest neighborhood.

Bedford Avenue

Bedford Avenue used to be an enclave for artists and musicians, filled only with cheap bodegas, eateries and coffee shops. But these days, it is chock full of some of the hippest (and most expensive) boutiques in the city, as well as big-name stores like J. Crew, Apple and Whole Foods. You can pretty much find it all here. Take the L to the Bedford Avenue stop and stroll south and you will find all kinds of shops and boutiques to stop into. Meander down the numbered side streets as well to find more hidden treasures.

Riverfront

The riverfront area is a relatively new development in Williamsburg and is full of new and fancy shopping options. On North 3rd, you can find Pilgrim Surf and Supply, a light and airy space with surfwear, boards and gear from brands like M. Nii and Baron Wells. You can also check out PS9 Pets on North 9th Street, which is one of the best pet stores in all of Brooklyn. Rough Trade is a very cool record shop that sells all kinds of hard to find albums and also doubles as a live music venue — check their schedule to see who is performing while you’re in town!

Grand Street

Grand Street was pretty off-the-radar until the last decade or so when it sprang to life with restaurants, hotels and, of course, amazing shopping options. Paul Smith’s Secret Discount Store is an outpost here where you can find the designer clothing at a fraction of the cost. Fred Perry also has a surplus shop in the same vein — you can find great deals on polos, oxfords and more. Eco Closet is a cool spot for stuff that has been upcycled, recycled or locally sourced. You’ll definitely find something original here. And check out Bird for high-end boutique clothing for both men and women.

Shopping in Williamsburg is definitely a great way to spend the day for anyone who is interested in checking out some of the trendiest stores and latest fashions that New York City has to offer. Head here for a day of shopping and then stick around in the evening to grab dinner and find a great bar for drinks, music and dancing.
