There’s no doubt about it — New York City is the city that never sleeps. And, if you want to be in a neighborhood where people will definitely be up and out at all hours of the night, you should head to the East Village. The East Village is a nightlife hot spot in the city, and there are tons of great bars and clubs where you can go have fun late into the night. If you find yourself in the East Village after hours looking for a bite to eat, you’re in luck. The area has great food options that you can enjoy all night. Here are some of the best.
Veselka isn’t only famous for being a late night dining spot, it’s just one of the city’s most legendary ethnic restaurants. Veselka has been open since 1954, and they serve up delicious Ukrainian food 24 hours per day. People rave about the entire menu at Veselka, but one of their late night favorites is the Pierogi. You can enjoy a selection of potato, cheese, meat, sweet potato, sauerkraut and mushroom, arugula and goat cheese, or one of the special flavors, in addition to a whole menu of Ukranian delights.
Motorino is one of the best spots for pizza in the East Village. Don’t think fast food pizza when you think Motorino. Instead, think about gourmet, brick-oven-style pizza (Neapolitan style). The original outpost of Motorino was in Brooklyn, but now this trendy hotspot has a location in the East Village, where you can enjoy the ‘za late into the night. Motorino stays open and serves food until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and midnight the rest of the week, so it’s a good spot if you need dinner late.
Diners are a late night standby. The best in the East Village is Odessa — a city institution. The menu here is a basic diner menu: you can get eggs, pancakes, burgers, Greek food, and a whole host of cakes and pies. Odessa is open until 3 a.m. weeknights and all night on weekends.
