When tourists come to New York City, they regularly seek out fun nightlife, which can be found all over the city. From the dazzling clubs in the Meatpacking District to jazz clubs in Harlem to the Irish pubs on the Upper East Side, the city pretty much has something for everyone. But when you’re considering where to spend your evenings in the city, don’t forget Brooklyn, too! Here are the best bars in Greenpoint!
The borough is now home to some of the trendiest neighborhoods in the country and new watering holes crop up all the time to cater to the artists, musicians and other folks that live in the area. Greenpoint is without a doubt one of the most up-and-coming areas of the city and the location of some of the very best bars. Check out one of these great spots the next time you’re visiting.
Located on Franklin Street right in the heart of Greenpoint, Ramona is a chill, lounge-type bar offering craft cocktails, vintage-inspired decor and a really mellow atmosphere. The bar draws an eclectic crowd for after-work drinks and stays hopping late on weekend nights. Try one of their signature cocktails like the Spider in the Cup with Scotch and Scandinavian fernet or the Black Book with bourbon and jalapeno.
Black Rabbit is an amazing old saloon-type pub that will make you feel like you stepped right into old London town. It’s a casual joint that’s usually filled with locals from the neighborhood, and a great spot to saunter into on a cold night when you can cozy up by the fireplace and partake in some of the games or a trivia night if you happen to catch one. Try the Welsh Rarebit Fondue off the bar menu.
The Moonlight Mile
The Moonlight Mile is a tiny little spot on Franklin Street that is also a local favorite. People float in and line the small bar starting at 4 p.m. when they open and you can choose from over 250 American whiskeys that they have on offer! They also feature a great selection of beer and wine. There are wonderful restaurants within a few blocks so it makes a great pre- or post-dinner stop.

Five Leaves is a proper restaurant but they have a big enough bar to count as it’s own destination. The space is located right on the edge of McCarren Park, toeing the line between Greenpoint and Williamsburg, in a beautifully renovated building that feels like a charming slice of old 1920s Brooklyn. It was part-owned by Heath Ledger, so it has a tie to old Hollywood lore as well. Grab a glass of wine or one of their signature cocktails at the bar and you can order a burger, oysters or one of the many other lovely dishes off the full menu while you hang out.

If the weather is nice, look no further than Northern Territory, one of the biggest outdoor bars in Greenpoint. It’s a comfy tavern inside with a big woody patio that is open and filled with picnic tables so you and your friends can camp out in the sun for a bit. Get a few pitchers of beer and see what’s on their happy hour food menu!
Greenpoint won’t disappoint you when it comes to finding amazing spots to grab a beverage! Check out some of these and wander up Franklin Street or Manhattan Avenue to find even more places that you’ll love.
