Where to Hear Music in Harlem

If you’re in the Big Apple looking for live music, Harlem is the place to be! Here are some of the neighborhood’s very best music venues.

Paris Blues

Paris Blues is located between 120th and 121st Street on Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard and is one of the best spots to head for a cozy, intimate music venue with live music seven days a week. Wander in any night to see what kind of jazz or blues band they have lined up for the evening. They also have a cozy outdoor seating area so you can head outside to enjoy cocktails in the fresh air after you’ve heard an amazing set.

The Shrine World Music Venue on Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard hosts some of the best live music in all of New York City. The best part is they book music of all styles — from all over the world! You can hear Afrotrip, reggae, jazz, blues … pretty much anything your heart desires. Sunday nights are a favorite with live jazz bands and food and drink specials for you to enjoy.

Marcus Garvey Park

Looking for free live music? Check out the schedule at Marcus Garvey Park, one of the city’s most beautiful outdoor areas. Located at Mt. Morris Park West and Madison Avenue, they have free live jazz and comedy acts throughout the summer where you can bring a blanket and a picnic and relax in the sun to some delightful tunes. They also feature public play spaces for kids and other activities to keep visitors busy all-year round.

Apollo Theater

It wouldn’t be a list of Harlem Music venues without mentioning the world-famous Apollo Theater. They have hosted some of the biggest names in the business, from the Jackson 5 to James Brown and they continue to feature the best talent in the world. Check their schedule to find out who is headlining while you’re in town!
