1. Watch the St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade starts at 44th Street and continues all the way to 79th Street on 5th Avenue. The parade, which is the oldest and longest St. Patrick’s Day parade in the city, takes place on March 16 and features a plethora of floats, balloons and performers. It’s free for families to enjoy, but please refrain from bringing pets or alcohol to the event. The parade starts promptly at 11:00 a.m. and is slotted to run until 5:00 p.m.
2. Go to the Sober St. Patrick’s Day Festival
Many people associate St. Patrick’s Day with drinking green beer and Irish car bomb cocktails, but there are fun things you can do that don’t actually involve alcohol at all. The Sober St. Patrick’s Day Festival is an example of a fun, alcohol-free event you can enjoy on March 16. The festival runs from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 368 Mulberry Street. Children and adults are welcome to enjoy traditional Irish music, comedy and dancing at the event. Tickets cost $10 for children age 10 and under, $20 for seniors and children over 10, and $25 for adults.
3. Join in the Amazing St. Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt
The Amazing St. Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt is yet another fun event that you can join in with your friends and family. The hunt takes place on March 17 from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. and starts at the Tempest Bar NYC, located at 407 8th Avenue. You’ll take part in a scavenger hunt throughout the city, but in order to join in the hunt, at least one member of your party must have a smartphone with the app ScanQuest downloaded onto it.
4. Take a St. Patrick’s Day Cruise
The Hornblower Cruise features a great St. Patrick’s Day cruise for you to enjoy with the people you love. There is a DJ on board spinning the hottest dance music, along with plenty of snacks and ample alcohol to keep the party rocking the entire time. The cruise departs from Pier 15 located in the South Street Seaport. The cruise boards promptly at 8:30 p.m. on March 17.
5. Enjoy a Day of Irish Family Fun
The St. Patrick’s Open Day at the Irish Arts Center is a day of Irish family fun you have to see to believe. It’s free to attend and features numerous hands-on crafts, great music, traditional Irish dance classes, fun games to play and exhibits for everyone to enjoy. The fun starts at 12:00 p.m. and runs until 4:00 p.m. on March 11.
