Best November Events NYC 2019

November in New York signals the end of Autumn and the ushering in of winter. Temperatures start to drop, and Christmas lights and shoppers come out in full effect. This also means there are plenty of fun, festive activities to partake in, so both locals and visitors can get into the holiday spirit.

Other cities might start to slow down when the weather gets cold, but New York only picks up the pace! From the New York City Marathon and Christmas shopping extravaganzas to parties and festivals galore, all the options can be dizzying! We’ve gathered some of the very best November events in NYC this year so you can make sure not to miss out on the action.

Holiday Markets

Holiday markets are a big deal in New York City, and many of New York’s public spaces and parks turn into veritable winter wonderlands this time of year. Grand Central Terminal transforms into a giant bazaar with food, beverages and holiday lights everywhere. Bryant Parks and Union Square both host a Winter Village all season long, starting in November, where kids and adults alike can come for entertainment, holiday shopping and lots of delicious snacks and drinks.

NYC Marathon

The New York City Marathon is arguably the most famous Marathon in the world, and it happens every November. Runners come from all across the globe — some of them have been training years for this big day! It begins on Staten Island, and runners race through all five boroughs before ending at Central Park.

The event is completely free to watch, but if you want to get a seat at the finish line, purchase tickets for the grandstand. Otherwise, join the fun by lining up with other New Yorkers at one of the hot viewing spots, such as Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg or along the DUMBO waterfront.

Women’s Expo

The Women’s Expo is also one of the biggest events of the year, and it takes place at the New Jersey Convention and Expedition Center in Edison, New Jersey. It’s a fabulous weekend event that wows you with celebrity speakers, live chef demos and opportunities to join workshops and learn new skills. The Expo includes hundreds of beauty and health product vendors and is an awesome chance to network, share and just have a fantastic time.

Festivals Galore

November is the time of year for some of the city’s biggest and most anticipated festivals. From the 4th to the 10th is the New York Comedy Festival, which features big-name comedians, special sketch and improvisational comedy, panel discussions and benefit shows. DOC NYC, the documentary film festival, takes place from November 7th to the 14th. It screens 135 interesting documentary films and features premieres and special events. And the Big Apple Film Festival takes place on a TBA date in November. It showcases independent films and an award show at SVA Theatre after the festival closes.

Veteran’s Day Parade

One of the biggest parades of the year, the NYC Veterans Day Parade entertains 500,000 spectators as it marches up Fifth Avenue from 26th to 50th Street. It opens with a ceremony at 10 a.m., so get there early to celebrate and honor US veterans.
